ENGEMASA was born from the modernization ideals of the 1970s, when University of São Paulo (USP) and the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) engineers got together in 1976 to found a stainless steel casting and special alloys company with the objective of replacing importations.

From the beginning of its operation in 1978, ENGEMASA has overcome the challenges imposed on it, nationalizing parts hitherto imported with equal or better performance than the competition.

The challenges posed in the 1980s, mainly by PETROBRAS, led ENGEMASA to enter the market of forged bars in special alloys and stainless steel needles used to reinforce refractory concrete.

In the 1990s, through a close relationship [parternship] with top national universities and research laboratories, ENGEMASA entered the Petrochemical market, supplying static castings in high nickel and chrome alloys for high temperature jobs. In response to requests from PQU (Petroquímica União), it develops technology for the manufacturing of Centrifuged Tubes and begins the assembly of petrochemical columns according to the most rigorous metallurgical controls of micro alloys additions, guaranteeing their performance for high temperature jobs.

There were many achievements: Machining (1990), Division, Petrochemical & Centrifugal Foundry (1992), ISO 9001, etc.

PETROBRAS and the national petrochemical industries now have a genuinely national supplier capable of meeting the growing challenges of this important Sector of the Domestic Economy.

Through continuous interchange with the best Brazilian universities and research institutes, ENGEMASA has complete metallurgical domain of its products and is ready to overcome the challenges of the new millennium.

The products are certified by SGS, TUV and PETROBRAS, in accordance with ISO 9001 Standard.
